Marie Curie was a famous physicist and chemist who was known for her research and discoveries of radioactive elements and being the first woman to win a noble prize in chemistry and a noble prize in physics. Marie Curie was first inspired by Wilhelm Roentgen and Henri Becquerel to look into uranium rays as a field of research. Uranium was found to be radioactive through her research. Marie Curie's work on Uranium and Radioactivity had important implications in energy generation.

To earn this multi-disciplinary badge, please complete the activities assigned from our 3 different courses(I am a young Chemist/ I am a Young Physicist /I am a Sustainability Champion). 4 badges will be awarded to you upon completion of the programme. 

Instructions:

1. Try to carry out the activities by yourself.  

2. Submit your completed works for us to certify! Only submit photos of your work 

3. Be responsible. If you submit inappropriate content, you will be given a warning and may be barred from using the system. 

4. For assignments that require video uploads, please upload your work onto youtube and then link us to the url.

The activities in the Young Scientist Badge programmes have been designed to encourage Curiosity, creativity, communication, open mindedness and perseverance.

Learning Outcome

  • Recognise that water can exist in three interchangeable states of matter.
  • Give examples of Man’s impact (e.g. conservation) to the environment.
  • Understand and list chemical compounds.
  • Understand the 3 states of matter.
  • Observe the experiment results and explain the reason behind it.
  • Understand how does a pH indicator work.
  • Explore physical properties of different materials.
