Thanks Qi Xuan for sharing your work as part of the I am a Young Sustainability Champion Programme
Things needed to make an eco-enzyme:
1. Water (10 parts)
2. Brown Sugar (1 part)
3. Fruit peels or remains (3 parts)
4. An air-tight container (plastic is recommended so the bottle will not be damaged when gases are released in the bottle)
Step 1: Put all the fruit peels, water and brown sugar in the container.
Step 2: For the first month, stir every two days.
Step 3: After 3 months, a good eco enzyme will be dark brown in colour with a vinegar-like smell. If after 3 months, the eco-enzyme is black, add more brown sugar.
Filter the eco enzyme from the fruit scraps. The fruit scraps can be used as fertiliser. The eco enzyme can be used to clean multiple surfaces.
