Thanks for sharing your tips on online etiquette for the I am a Young IT Whiz badge!
Three ways to help class online discussion forum to observe etiquette in communication.
Rule 1: Be mindful of your language.
What goes around comes around. An inappropriate word or phrase said, will trigger discomfort in another person, and that person may not be able to hold back the discomfort and spew more hurtful words in a fit of anger, creating a chain of hostile exchanges.
Rule 2: If you Wouldn't Do It in Real Life, Don't Do It Online.
Just because we are behind a screen, or a keyboard, it doesn't mean that you can use inappropriate language. The people that you interact with might be someone that you know offline, or will meet face-to-face one day, and that will cause embarrassment in that situation. Hence, avoid that awkward situation by using neutral or appropriate language while online.
Rule 3: Don't create nor spread falsehood
Do not post any untruthful or misleading information about your classmates, schoolmates, teachers nor anyone. Falsehood can heighten fear, incite hate, and may lead to violence.
