A couple of years ago, I went to a very interesting place near Singapore called Semakau Landfill. Semakau Landfill is located just about 8km south of Singapore. Semakau Landfill plays an extremely crucial role for Singapore because Semakau Landfill is the only landfill in Singapore. This means that all the trash thrown are dumped into the place for waste management. Semakau Landfill was supposed to completely be filled only by 2045. However, due to the unfortunate fact that Singaporeans are gradually wasting more and more rubbish, Semakau Landfill may only be able to fill completely by 2035. Covid-19 also affected this increase of waste because of circuit breaker and the increase of people ordering food online. Ordering food online will increase the number of plastic bags thrown, as delivered food usually comes in a plastic bag. However, it is not too late. If we carefully watch what we throw and use, the time for Semakau Landfill would increase by years. We can help by reusing many materials, such as using the other side of the paper instead of taking another or throwing materials like paper and glass. This will also affect the environment if we continue to follow our ways as more rubbish would be thrown into the sea and many animals, such as turtle and several species of fish could die, and the species of the animal might even be extinct because of this. Although millions of people worldwide have seen many posters about saving the world and helping the environment, they do not bother. I really hope that the government would find a brilliant idea to resolve the problem and help Semakau Landfill. This Landfill is such a beautiful place, I really hope that hope people do not ruin it.

The atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases such as methane gas has been increasing quickly. This causes the glacier to melt quicker and faster, thus shortening the length of when all the glaciers in the world would melt. There are many disadvantages to this problem.
When glaciers melt, because that water is stored on land, the runoff significantly increases the amount of water in the ocean, contributing to global sea level rise. Hence, if all the glaciers were to melt and be completely gone, the sea levels would increase drastically by about 70 meters. Based on the internet, that means that the ocean would cover all the coastal cities, meaning that our land area would have shrunk significantly.
There are many ways to stop glaciers from melting. However, the many types of ways to stop glaciers from melting are beyond our budget. The least that we can do is to decrease the rate of glaciers melting. We can do this by saving power at our homes by taking shorter showers, turning off the lights when they are not in use, turning of the water tap while we are brushing our teeth, etc.
At this rate, it would take 5000 years for all the ice in the world to melt. Although that amount of time seems long, considering how long the earth has been around, it actually is just an extremely tiny portion of how long the earth has been around for.
In conclusion, everyone should play their part and try their best to save power in their house to decrease the rate for glaciers melting.
